The ATU Honors Program is a long‑standing academic tradition committed to cultivating a dynamic community of scholars. Honors students engage in enriched intellectual and personal growth opportunities within a supportive environment that values inquiry, critical analysis, curiosity, exploration, and thoughtful dialogue.
The Honors Program is designed for highly motivated students who seek deeper academic engagement, smaller learning communities, and meaningful collaboration with faculty and peers. Honors courses emphasize discussion‑based learning, interdisciplinary perspectives, and innovative approaches to complex problems. Faculty selected to teach Honors courses are chosen for their ability to challenge students intellectually while fostering an engaging and supportive learning environment.
Participation in Honors encourages students to question assumptions, think creatively, and take an active role in their learning. Across all Honors pathways, students benefit from:
-
Small, interactive courses
-
Close faculty mentorship
-
Opportunities for interdisciplinary study
-
Priority course registration
-
A community that sets high academic expectations
ATU offers two distinct Honors designations to support varying levels of academic engagement:
-
University Honors Scholar
A selective, cohort-based Honors experience designed primarily for high-achieving high school seniors entering ATU, featuring Honors-specific coursework, faculty mentorship, leadership development, service, and a required Senior Honors Project. -
Honors Scholar
A flexible Honors designation for academically motivated current and transfer students who wish to engage in Honors coursework and enrichment opportunities while pursuing a customized academic pathway.
Each pathway is designed to recognize academic excellence while providing flexibility to meet students’ goals and interests.
