The criminal justice minor provides students with a foundational understanding of the criminal justice system and its various components, including law enforcement, corrections, and the courts. This program prepares students for careers in fields such as police work, probation, parole, and corrections, equipping them with essential knowledge and skills to navigate the complexities of crime and justice. The minor requires coursework in Introduction to Criminal Justice and Crime and Delinquency, which explore the structure of the criminal justice system and the causes and consequences of criminal behavior. Additionally, students will engage in critical analysis of contemporary issues within the criminal justice system, fostering a deeper understanding of the societal impacts of crime and justice policies with 12 hours of CJ elective coursework. This minor is an excellent option for students whose major department requires a minor, allowing them to complement their primary field of study with valuable insights into the criminal justice system and its role in society, while also preparing them for future career opportunities.
