The Graduate Certificate in Online Teaching will provide an additional skill set for graduate students working toward a teacher licensure.
Graduate students who hold a valid state of Arkansas teacher's license, in addition to the 12 hours required in the graduate certificate, can take EDMD 6113 Emerging Technologies for Education and Training and earn an Endorsement for Online Teaching through the State of Arkansas upon passing the state of Arkansas endorsement exam. This is not an Arkansas Tech credential.
Learning Outcomes:
- Apply Best Practices and Strategies: Implement current best practices and strategies in online teaching to create rich and meaningful learning experiences for students.
- Foster Learner Collaboration and Global Citizenship: Enhance learner capacity for collaboration in face-to-face, blended, and online environments, encouraging students to engage as global citizens.
- Utilize a Variety of Online Tools: Identify, select, and use diverse online tools for communication, productivity, collaboration, analysis, presentation, research, and content delivery, tailored to the content area, student needs, and aligned with state and national standards.
- Engage Students with Student-Centered Instructional Strategies: Employ student-centered instructional strategies connected to real-world applications to actively engage students in learning through methods such as peer-based learning, inquiry-based activities, collaborative learning, discussion groups, self-directed learning, case studies, small group work, and guided design.
- Differentiate Instruction to Meet Diverse Learning Needs: Use differentiated strategies to convey ideas and information, assisting students in assimilating knowledge and understanding based on their varied learning needs.
- Utilize Student Data to Inform Instruction: Use student data to guide instruction, monitor students' time management, track learner progress with available tools, and develop intervention plans for students who are not meeting learning objectives.
- Incorporate and Communicate Privacy Guidelines: Incorporate and comply with FERPA or similar guidelines in acceptable use policies (AUP) and course design, clearly communicating privacy guidelines to students.
