Students who complete the program will demonstrate:
- Successfully complete required coursework equivalent to 1500 hours, according to the Arkansas State Department of Health, Cosmetology Division, regulations.
- Be prepared to successfully pass the written and practical Cosmetology State Board Exams.
- Demonstrate safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures.
- Perform hair care services for all types of hair including hair analysis, hair cutting, hairstyling, hair coloring and lightening, permanent waving and chemical relaxing; apply knowledge of hair chemistry to create solutions.
- Perform natural nail services including manicuring and pedicuring.
- Perform basic skin care services including skin analysis, facials, makeup application, and hair removal.
- Perform salon business such as front desk operations, dispensary inventory and loss prevention practices.
- Demonstrate professional behavior.
- Demonstrate exemplary customer service skills, attention to personal hygiene and image, and participate in mentor/mentee rapport.
- Demonstrate self-management and social-awareness skills.
- Demonstrate professional development skills
- Build a resume and develop interviewing skills
- Identify foundational practices for starting a salon business
- Explain the importance of licensure and maintaining annual professional development related to the field of cosmetic science.
