Upon completion of the Associate of Applied Science degree in Practical Nursing, a graduate will be able to:
- Communicate effectively, verbally, and in writing with patient/family, nursing and other health care personnel.
- Assess patients for overall physical, emotional, and social needs.
- Report and document significant changes in patients’ health status.
- Use NCP and/or facility protocol to establish priorities for care.
- Maintain implementation competencies such as cardio respiratory function, nutritional status, elimination, activity, comfort and sleep, environment, hygiene, and social and emotional safety.
- Assist in evaluation competencies such as patient outcomes and revising plans of nursing care.
- Maintain confidentiality in verbal and nonverbal communications.
