Mission

The College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) at Arkansas Tech University is dedicated to equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and values essential for thriving in STEM-related careers. Our challenging curriculum prepares graduates for STEM fields, while emphasizing ethics, teamwork, and problem-solving. Believing in the significance of STEM education for tackling contemporary challenges, we are committed to leveraging our talents to create a better world. To achieve this, we actively engage students in research and problem-solving experiences, enabling them to apply their skills effectively. Additionally, we forge partnerships with industry and community organizations, offering students invaluable real-world opportunities to gain experience.

Principles

The College of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics:

  • Values scholarly activity, especially as it relates to the enhancement of teaching and its positive affect on high-impact student learning,
  • Values service to the University and to the local, regional, state and professional communities,
  • Seeks to demonstrate to students, and instill in them, high ethical standards of personal and professional conduct,
  • Strives to achieve continuous improvement through rigorous assessment processes,
  • Endeavors to equip students with the interdisciplinary, technical, and critical-thinking skills necessary to develop workable solutions to complex problems.

The College is composed of three (3) academic departments:

  • Biological & Earth Sciences
  • Engineering & Computing Science
  • Mathematical and Physical Sciences

These departments offer programs of study leading to associate and baccalaureate degrees. Some departments offer masters degrees.
