The General option is specifically designed with a minimum of required courses so that students, in cooperation with their faculty academic advisors, can exercise a maximum degree of flexibility in tailoring programs to meet their individual aspirations. By judiciously choosing electives, individuals can enrich these minimum chemistry requirements to prepare for futures in law, technical marketing, environmental science, computer science, technical writing, toxicology, education, technical illustration, engineering, health sciences, and business.
Students who complete the program will demonstrate:
- Students completing the baccalaureate program will be able to demonstrate competency and understanding of the basic concepts found in chemistry and biochemistry.
- Baccalaureate graduates will be able to utilize the scientific method for formal investigation and to demonstrate competency with experimental methods that are used to discover and verify the concepts related to chemistry and biochemistry content knowledge.
- Baccalaureate graduates will demonstrate skills necessary for conducting research related to content knowledge and laboratory skills. From the challenging and engaging curricular and co-curricular learning experiences students will build a multitude of skills in the core specialties of organic, inorganic, analytical, physical, and biochemistry, as well as other interdisciplinary studies at TECH.
- Six months after graduation, our graduates will find work in chemistry or a related discipline, or be attending a professional school.
